Luqman Fulmer
aspiring sound designer
Luqman A. Fulmer is an aspiring music performance and composition professional native to Fairfax County, Virginia and Frederick County, Maryland. The son of Muslim converts, his upbringing has exposed him to an unlikely mix of cultures. The engrossing worlds of videogames join this mix and feed his musical vocabulary.
His performing arts journey began in middle school upon joining its theater club for the Folger Secondary School Shakespeare Festival. After two enjoyable years, he joined Thomas A. Edison High School’s musical theater and was introduced there to the study of music. Once he joined the choir the next year, his curiosity for music exploded into a serious personal interest catalyzed by the support of his teachers and directors. By the end of his high school days, he had won various awards and composed a small body of music, some of which had been performed for the school’s choir concerts and talent shows.
He continued his education at George Mason University. There his professors encouraged him to use his vocal and compositional talents to explore additional musical settings such as vocal jazz, jazz band, concert orchestra, opera, and improvised ensembles. During this time, he discovered the recorder family of instruments (in all of its wonderful sizes), and played in-concert for existing and original works.
Sharing music is Luqman’s way of extending peace and providing listeners with fresh avenues of expression. He hopes that listeners find enjoyment in music, no matter the emotion. A flowering composer, he takes life in a more musical direction where he can be the best version of himself. He aspires to work in sound design for video games alongside additional avenues of vocal and instrumental performance, playing original music with all kinds of talented artists.
